Join our yearly awareness campaign

Star Community created the annual awareness campaign Together We R.I.S.E. to raise awareness of the value of people with disabilities in our community. 

People with disabilities help our community thrive. They are members of our workforce who contribute their talents and skills to employers. They are volunteers, helping to fulfill the needs of our fellow friends and families. And every person, regardless of their abilities, enriches our community through their own unique character, friendships, and connections. When we value people for their abilities, our community rises.

      Our 2026 Together We R.I.S.E. Ambassadors

      Our Ambassadors are businesses and organizations that have agreed to spread the messaging of Together We R.I.S.E. to their own employees, clients, customers, and followers. Through their help, our campaign reach is amplified throughout Washington County and beyond, inspiring people in neighboring communities to Respect, Include, Support, and Educate.

      Get involved with together we R.I.S.E.!

      Your advocacy doesn’t begin or end with our campaign. Together We R.I.S.E. isn’t about raising awareness for one month; It’s about inspiring people to R.I.S.E. every day of the year. The more people we inspire, the more people of all abilities can contribute to our community.

      • Pledge your advocacy! Scroll up and click the "Pledge now" button to pledge your commitment to R.I.S.E. every day.
      • Encourage your friends and family to participate by asking them to pledge their advocacy, too.
      • Follow us, other providers, and disability influencers on social media to learn more about disability advocacy.
      • Share our disability etiquette tips to encourage others to R.I.S.E. every day of the year. Click here for disability etiquette tips!
      • Thank a disability advocate in your life and let them know they make a huge difference in our community.
      • Work with coworkers or your supervisor to asses the accessibility of your workplace and find areas for improvement.
      • Advocate for disability rights when opportunities arise in local government decisions, such as ensuring new buildings will have an accessible entrance.
      • Watch a documentary about people with disabilities.
      • Gently educate people on disability rights when talking to someone who isn‘t respectful. Some people who are disrespectful of disability rights simply don't know much about people with disabilities. You could be one of the first people to give them an "ah-ha" moment!
