Star Ventures
We are truly fortunate and grateful to have found Star Community as our son’s home. We could not ask for a culture of caring any greater than that offered by the direct care staff at Star. He also participates in the day program (Ventures) at Star, where he is nurtured and challenged to achieve his maximum potential in a program also including participants from the community. As a faith-based organization, we feel comfortable that Star is providing a living, working, and spiritual environment to provide for all of our son’s needs.

The Ventures Program is committed to offering innovative services with opportunities for people who have developmental disabilities to gain skills that are important to living a meaningful and independent life. At the age of 21, individuals leave the educational system and must make a decision as to the direction that their lives will take. Those joining in the Ventures Program will learn marketable work skills, social skills, daily living skills, and much more. As a day habilitation program, the Ventures Program maintains a high standard for both staff and individuals served. Staff promote a level of independence that is most appropriate for each person served. The staff are expected to maintain the role of mentoring as well as being a positive role model. People with disabilities want the same opportunities as others. It is not the intention of the program to shelter or protect from living life’s experiences. The program recognizes that, in life, everyone must experience failures in order to succeed.
While a participant of the program, individuals will be afforded choice coupled with responsibility. Individuals are encouraged to be the leaders of their personal lives with team support.
