riding

The discipline of weekly scheduled riding lessons is the most successful method of mastering the art of horseback riding and horsemanship. Since our founding 10 years ago, STAR has taught the balanced seat approach. We teach beginners through intermediate riders on safe, well trained horses. With a diverse selection of equines we can allow riders to branch out and experience western riding, jumping, dressage and trail riding. Our approach has been to engage the rider in the care of the horse, teach grooming, tacking and care after riding. Our 145 acres of beautiful countryside includes an indoor arena, dressage arena outdoors, and miles of trails within the safety of our own property. Classes are offered in group lessons, no more than 5 riders in a class ensuring that each rider receives attention. We also offer private and semi-private classes for those riders who wish a more private lesson. We cater to the younger rider and will start riders at 5 years of age. Young riders are assisted in classes with horse leaders and side-aides until skills and confidence levels are reached for independent riding. Have you taken a fall or a long break from riding? We can help you relearn riding skills in our “ride at your own pace” friendly atmosphere. Safety is at all times a priority, and we teach those practices to each rider giving them a strong foundation in horsemanship.
