Located on 145 acres, Star provides a tranquil setting with a pavilion, pond, indoor swimming pool, equine center and a bike and riding trail. - What is the per diem rate?
Per diem is determined by assessment and classification on a matrix scale based on the needs of the individual. - What types of activities are the individuals involved in?
Individuals participate in a wide range of activities based on individual interests and personal choice. This includes craft classes, trips to the library, exercise opportunities, trips to various parks, movie theatres, beauty parlors and barbers, churches, and restaurants. - What is the focus of the day program?
Star offers a day habilitation program designed to promote an individual's independence through work skill development. Social leisure opportunities are offered those not suited for work skill development, and a retirement program is available for those beyond the work phase of his/her life. - What training is provided to staff?
All employees are provided a wide range of orientation and training programs designed to maximize their understanding of individuals with disabilities and their special needs. In addition, each employee working in a direct support capacity receives training tailored to the specific needs of the individuals with whom they work. - Do you provide services to people with challenging behaviors?
Individuals with challenging behaviors are provided the support of experts in both psychology and psychiatry. Behavior support plans are developed to support them in the least restrictive environment possible. - Do the residents attend church?
All residents at Star are offered the opportunity to attend worship services. - Are families encouraged to be involved?
Involvement with family and friends is highly supported and encouraged. Most individuals receive frequent communication with family and friends through phone calls, letters, and visits. - Do the residents participate in the community?
People living at Star are active members of the community. - What medical care is provided?
Star provides nursing delegation oversight by a Registered Nurse who is assisted by an LPN and one part-time assistant. On call coverage for medical needs is provided 24 hours a day. Star utilizes the services of local physicians who provide oversight of health care needs to all individuals, and enlists the services of a wide variety of specialized health care professionals to meet the individual needs of its residents.
